Golden Triangle

India’s most popular and iconic tourist trail. Take in the nation’s capital of Delhi, experience the beauty of the Taj Mahal at Agra, then head to the fun of Jaipur.

Dip into the splendour and excitement of India
with these three essential cities
that make up the Golden Triangle.

India’s capital is a heady mix of old and new. Explore the old at Shah Jahan’s majestic Red Fort, then head across to the rest of Old Delhi to see the enormous Jama Masjid and be tempted by the treasures on offer at the bazaars.

Visit Humayan’s Tomb and see how it inspired an era of architecture, including the Taj Mahal. Then head to the peace of the Lodi Gardens nearby. Pay homage to Ghandi at his memorial. See the beauty of the Bahai Lotus Temple and the amazing Qutb Minar, the world’s tallest brick minaret.

Balance out the old by exploring “New” Delhi and the shopping around Connaught Place. Delhi has everything within one city from ages old temples and monuments to grand five star modern hotels. Delhi is the perfect place to start and finish your Indian adventure.

A visit to India really isn’t complete without seeing the legendary Taj Mahal, found in the busy city of Agra. Considered one of the seven wonders of the modern world, it is a marvel of art and architecture. It is also the most public and famous declaration of love, being Shah Jahan’s tribute to the immense adoration he had for his beloved Queen Mumtaz.

While Agra is mostly about the Taj Mahal it also has the grand Agra Fort. From there you can look back to the Taj Mahal from the white marble palace of the emperor, where he was held captive in his final years.

Make sure you also visit Metabh Bagh, the garden across the river behind the Taj Mahal. This is another lovely way to see the beautiful tribute in a much quieter and placid location. If you have time visit the “Baby Taj”. This is the Tomb of I’timād-ud-Daulah and is another wonderful example of Mughal architecture.

The amazing abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri is also not far. See it as a day trip or on your way to Jaipur.

Visiting the Pink City is a great way to get a taste of Rajasthan as you explore the state’s capital. Walk the streets of the Old Town, visiting the elaborate City Palace, the quirky Jantar Mantar and the beauty of Hawa Mahal, the Palace of the Winds. Then fill your senses with the colours and smells at the bazaars.

Have a quick photo stop at the Jal Mahal, the iconic Water Palace on your way to the forts to enjoy spectacular views.

Most of all- get tempted to see the rest of Rajasthan!
